Frey's Story

Freys is one of Stockholm’s oldest brands and has a rich history filled with exciting events and interesting stories. The company’s name comes from the powerful and intelligent horse Frey, who won the highly publicized long-distance race between Stockholm and Jönköping in 1895.

In the late 1800s, Freys was a company that transported wealthy Stockholmers by horse-drawn carriage. In modern times, it has grown into a business with two family-owned hotels in the heart of Stockholm. We also own real estate, restaurants, and a limousine service.

Freys Hotels Today

Freys Hotels consists of two family-owned hotels— Freys Hoteland Corner Hotel(formerly Freys Hotel Lilla Rådmannen)—in central Stockholm, with a focus on personal hospitality, thoughtfulness, and a warm atmosphere. 

Freys Hotel, located on Bryggargatan Stockholm Central Station, is the hotel where it all began and has been a natural gathering place for both business travelers and leisure guests ever since it opened. 

Corner Hotel has its roots in Freys Hotel Lilla Rådmannen, which opened in 1997 as an extension of Freys Hotel. With its location in Vasastan, near Drottninggatan, and its cosy atmosphere, the hotel quickly became a valued part of the business. 

Over the years, our business has grown and evolved. Today, our hotels offer individually decorated rooms, conference facilities, and the option of extended stays in Stockholm—always with the same focus on quality, warmth, and personalized service. 

We offer a comprehensive experience for both business travelers and leisure guests—from accommodations and conference facilities to extended stays in Stockholm. 

For us, it’s not about rigid concepts, but about people, connections, and the feeling of truly being welcomed.

I grew up with our hotels and have worked at Freys since we opened in 1989, which should make me the second-longest-serving employee in the company. The oldest relic of all is the wall hanging “Hotell ljuva hem.” It was embroidered in 1988 to be ready for the grand opening and still hangs on the wall in the reception area.

Over the years, I have seen authentic hotels with a family-friendly atmosphere emerge. I have seen down-to-earth and timeless elegance flourish.

We’re here for those who need a safe place to stay; we’re not for travelers looking for an Instagram-worthy, trendy lifestyle in downtown Stockholm—though they’re, of course, also welcome to relax with us.

We must never forget to have fun. Guests can tell when we, the staff, are laughing, enjoying ourselves, and having fun at work. We should be allowed to be ourselves and feel confident in making our own decisions.

That’s how we’ll build new and exciting relationships in the years to come. I hope to be a part of that and guide the hotel forward with a steady hand.

Our hotels in Stockholm

Corner Hotel (formerly Hotel Lilla Rådmannen) is located in Vasastan, in a quieter neighborhood near Odenplan. It features 74 guest rooms, 13 conference rooms (currently under construction, expected to be completed in October 2026), and a state-of-the-art Belgian restaurant— Hörnans Belgobar.

Freys Hotel on Bryggargatan is a cosy city hotel near the Central Station, shopping, and restaurants. It features 127 guest rooms, 12 conference rooms, and a popular Belgian restaurant— Belgobaren .
